Racke Rauchzart Whisky

In 1958, a German wine company called A.Racke (Bingen, Rhine),
produced the first "German" whisky named "Blend Red Fox".
This whisky was a mix of Scotch malt whisky and German grain spirit
and his new smoky flavor conquert the Germans very quickly.
In the 50's, whisky was a drink of prestige in Germany, because it was rare,
exclusive and: expensive! Racke offered his "Blend Red Fox" for about half the price
of a traditional original Scotch whisky and so this brand became a self-running drink.
Because of the interceding of the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) this brand had to be
renamed and so from 1961 on the new brand name was "Racke Rauchzart" and so it is today.
The company logo - the red fox - was kept and "Racke Rauchzart" is still the no. 5 selling
whisky brand in Germany.
Because Racke Rauchzart was such a successful brand it was also produced in license
in the city of Beograd in Serbia (ex. Yugoslavia) in the 70's by a company called NAVIP.
The most right one in the row of Racke bottles below is one of those rare viski minibottles.
The miniature bottle production of "Racke Rauchzart" was stopped in the 1990's.
Today (2009) "Racke Rauchzart" is a brand of the Schwarze & Schlichte company.

Jacob Stueck Whisky

In the 60's another German whisky called "Jacob Stueck" was released by
"Weinbrennerei Stueck AG" (Hanau/Berlin/Nuernberg).
This whisky was a mix of Scotch malt whisky and German grain spirit, too.
The brand production of "Jacob Stueck" was stopped in the 80's ???.

Falckenthal Whisky

Another German whisky brand was "Der Falckner" produced from the 1960's on by
"VEB Edelbraende und Spirituosen" (located in Luckenwalde near to Berlin in the ex. GDR).
After the German reunification (1989) the company renamed into "Falckenthal Spirituosen GmbH"
in 1990 and was later on closed in 1998 and teared down in 2006 by the new owner,
the Berentzen-Group.
The whisky production was stopped in the early 1990's.

Kohut Whisky

This German whisky brand "Kohut Whisky" was produced in the 1970's by
"Dr. Kohut KG" (Weinbrennerei und Likoerfabrik located in Langen, near Frankfurt/Main).
Production of all products incl. the Kohut whisky was stopped in 1980.

kannste doppelt sehn, brauchste nich' zu Ruhnke gehn"
(Ruhnke was and still is a famous optician / optometrist in Berlin).

Mampe also produced the famous Lufthansa Cocktails up to the 1980's:
